Aryna Sabalenka celebrating a point
The Belarusian player ended the year with an notable 23-3 Grand Slam win-loss record.

World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second consecutive season.

The 27-year-old won four tournament victories – the most on tour – including successfully defending the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth career Grand Slam singles title.

A Season of High Performance

Throughout the year, Sabalenka played in a tour-best nine championship matches, with losses coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The Belarusian also triumphed at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the whole season as the world number one, concluding 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.

This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first player to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.

Record-Breaking Numbers

Sabalenka concluded the competitive year with a 63-12 match record, and earned a historic eleven million pounds in prize money.

She garnered almost 80% of the votes cast by global tennis journalists.

On 28 December, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "help bring women's tennis to a higher level".
