Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the league office.

The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

The woman, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
