Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his close associates.
Joshua had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.
The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the passing of his two trusted companions.”
His release from the hospital follows the global fight fans offered condolences for the star in the following the heartbreaking incident.
